So, amid criticism over her silence on her father’s latest controversies, Ivanka Trump got a puppy.
Trump shared a photo Saturday of the snow-white puppy with blue eyes she gave her daughter Arabella Kushner for her eighth birthday. Kushner turned eight on Wednesday.
“Meet Winter, Arabella’s birthday dream come true and the newest member of the Kushner family!” Ivanka, 37, wrote on Twitter.
She did not disclose the breed of the dog or whether it was a rescue animal. Her sister-in-law Lara Trump has been an advocate for animal welfare and the adoption of shelter dogs.
President Trump is the first president in decades to not own a dog. During a rally in El Paso in February he said he “wouldn’t mind having one” but he didn’t have the time.
“How would I look walking a dog on the White House lawn?” he said. “Feels a little phony to me.”
