The First Lady wore a black dress but
did not wear the metal pin with the red ribbon symbol on it which other
people at the event had. Melania
was defended by East Wing staff who said she hadn’t received a pin in
advance of the event. Mr Norris, who was wearing a pin, attended the
Drug Enforcement Administration's National Red Ribbon Rally to promote
the upcoming Red Ribbon week.
At the event, Melania warned families of the dangers of smoking E-cigarettes and vaping.
Speaking to the crowd, Melania said: “I am so pleased to be here and for the opportunity to talk about the importance of being drug-free and helping to share the message of Red Ribbon week.
“Today is an opportunity to be proactive in our efforts to eliminate drug use and addiction among our youth.
“For Red Ribbon week, students can sign a pledge that, if honoured, will lead to a lasting positive impact on their lives and the lives of their friends and peers.

The FLOTUS spoke of how she met boy scouts and explored the National Elk Refuge in Wyoming. She said during the visit she “observed the natural beauty of our lands” before sharing a number of images from the outing.
However, due to her husband and US President Donald Trump’s views on the environment, Melania was trounced on social media.
Her initial post said: “Yesterday I met Jackson District boy scouts at the elk antler arches in town square learning about their conservation efforts w/ Nat’l Elk Refuge.
“Explored #WY on Snake River w/ 4th graders observing the natural beauty of our lands.”
“This also includes addiction associated with e-cigarettes and vaping.
“It is important to me that we all work to educate children and families about the dangers associated with this habit. Marketing this addictive product to children must stop.”
