MEGHAN MARKLE, 37, became the first guest editor for the September issue of British Vogue, in which she featured 15 inspirational women on the cover. Fans are now asking why US First Lady Melania Trump wasn’t included.
The Duchess of Sussex
became the first guest editor for the September issue of British Vogue
this month. The 37-year-old does not feature on the cover of the issue,
called Forces for Change. Instead, said she hopes readers will be
inspired by the 15 women who adorn the cover of this month’s British
Vogue in the most-hyped magazine edition of the year. The 15 women on
the cover are: Adwoa Aboah, Adut Akech, Ramla Ali, Jacinda Ardern,
Sinead Burke, Gemma Chan, Laverne Cox, Jane Fonda, Salma Hayek Pinault,
Jameela Jamil, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Francesca Hayward, Yara
Shahidi, Greta Thunberg and Christy Turlington Burns.
While there are portraits of 15 women
on the cover, there is one blank spot in the middle, making the cover a
collage of 16 rectangles.
In an Instagram post announcing the magazine, the Duchess explained: “The sixteenth space on the cover, a mirror, was included so that when you hold the issue in your hands, you see yourself as part of this collective.”
However since the cover of the fashion bible was shared last night, dozens of people have slammed Meghan over who was left out.
Multiple readers took to social media to ask the Duchess why she hadn’t included First Lady Melania Trump - who they believed “shined on her UK visit.”
