IVANKA TRUMP’s mother, Ivana, threatened to put her up for adoption when she was a teenager, Ivanka admitted in an interview.
Dubbed the First Daughter due to her unusually high position in her father Donald Trump’s administration, Ivanka
has been vying for his approval her whole life. However, she reportedly
“had her moments” as a teenager that pushed her mother to make a
shocking threat of being put up for adoption. In an interview with Marie
Clare in 2007, she said: “I think my mum threatened to put me up for
adoption a few times.”
Her mother Ivana married the now-US President in 1977 and had three children: Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric.
However, the couple divorced in 1992 amid reports of Mr Trump’s affair with a woman called Marla Maples.
He married Ms Maples in 1993 and had a daughter, Tiffany, with her.
Their marriage did not last however and they divorced in 1999.
Finally, Mr Trump met his present wife Melania Knauss and married her in 2005 and the pair had a son, Barron.
Ivanka reportedly found the break-up of her parents’ marriage very difficult.
According to the 2019 book ‘Kushner Inc’, Ivanka asked her mother: “Does it mean I’m not going to be Ivanka Trump anymore?”.
She would do everything she could to stay in her father’s life, dropping in on him before school and even calling him from the broom cupboard between lessons.
Whilst at boarding school, Ivanka reportedly attended a party at a teacher’s house that got shut down for drugs and alcohol.

What’s more, the media interest in her father’s sex life apparently forced the family into an “us-versus-the-world mode”.
When she was 15, Ivanka transferred from Chapin School in Manhattan to Choate Rosemary Hall, a boarding school in Connecticut.
She told Marie Claire: “I was all of a sudden in the prison of boarding-school life, and all my friends in New York were having fun.”
She claimed her wealthy mother was even making her pay her own phone bill, which she did through her fledgling modelling career.

According to author Vicky Ward, whilst other students were expelled or suspended, “Ivanka largely escaped punishment”.
Allegedly her father had called the school and got her out of being punished.
However, apart from these few moments both her parents were largely absent from her life.
As one friend put it: “The dysfunction and loneliness of Ivanka’s family, the absence of her parents from her life, put her in a situation where she was vulnerable.”
Family friend Nikki Haskell said simply: “Donald was there when he was there.”
