MELANIA TRUMP is married to Donald Trump, making her the step mother to Ivanka Trump. Why doesn’t the First Lady of the United States follow her stepdaughter on Instagram?
There are no strict rules when it comes to Instagram etiquette, with who you follow usually depending on personal choice. While some people decide to treat everyone to a follow back, others are more selective in who they get direct updates from via the social media account. Then, of course, there are some Instagram users who opt to only follow their other half. At the time of writing, Melania Trump, 48, does not follow Ivanka Trump, 37, on her official social media account.
On the other hand, the American businesswoman does keep up with what her stepmother gets up to, by following her official @FLOTUS handle.
It's not known whether any of the Trump family have their own private accounts which they use to stay in contact with friends and family.
So, is there a particular reason why Melania hasn’t reciprocated the gesture on her official Instagram platform?
It seems that there is - and it’s not thought to be a social media snub.
In fact, Melania, who has 2.9 million Instagram followers, appears to have deliberately restricted the amount of people she follows on the platform.
Instead of receiving posts from lots of people, the mother-of-one is following just one person - and that’s her husband, Donald Trump, 72.
The decision to devote her news feed to just the father-of-five may be seen as a romantic gesture to her spouse, or to avoid any potential awkward moments which could arise by not following other famous faces.
It's not known whether any of the Trump family have their own private accounts which they use to stay in contact with friends and family.
So, is there a particular reason why Melania hasn’t reciprocated the gesture on her official Instagram platform?

Eric’s wife Lara Trump, 36, has also scooped a follow, as has White House Director of Social Media and Assistant to the President Daniel Scavino Jr.
Donald is also a follower of former White House Communications Director, Hope Charlotte Hicks.
However, Ivanka's husband Jared Kushner has not received a follow from his father-in-law.

The couple married back in 2005, and two years later, they went on to have a child together, Barron Trump, now 12.
The First Lady is just 11 years Ivanka’s senior.
And, with Donald having had his first child - Donald Trump Jr. - with Ivana Trump, 70, back in 1977, his current wife is just seven years older than her eldest stepson.
