Ivanka Trump traveled to Ethiopia last week and then to Ivory Coast to chair the first West African summit for women's entrepreneurship. The opportunity for her to give a new image of American diplomacy. Interview.
Paris Match. Where have you been hit in Africa?
Ivanka Trump. As a child, I went to Kenya, and then I spent my honeymoon in South Africa and Mozambique. I loved it! This time it was also very strong but different. I was inspired by the warmth, passion and commitment of people. There is still a lot to do, but thanks to our WGDP initiative, we have laid the groundwork for a system that will unleash enormous potential. I will continue to travel to implement and calibrate effective programs. Our goal is to emancipate 50 million women by 2025.

Why did you choose Ethiopia and Ivory Coast?
Africa is a strategic continent. What will happen will have a huge impact on the global economy, security and stability. I wanted to make sure on the ground that WGDP had the right strategic and local approach. Ethiopia is the third most important African country diplomatically. Abiy Ahmed, his prime minister, has embarked on far-reaching reforms and appointed a 50 percent female government. It is also the only African country chaired by a woman. We announced a new program, "2X Africa", to mobilize $ 1 billion for women, and signed a joint statement with the African Union to promote
their economic emancipation across the continent. As for Côte d'Ivoire, it has emerged, thanks to President Ouattara, from the conflict and the economic crisis. This country organized a first summit to
provide African women with legal parity for access to land, finance and markets.
